About the Audi Q7
The Audi Q7 was Audi's first SUV, making its debut in September 2005. Built on the Volkswagen Group PL71 platform shared with the VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne, the Q7 established itself as one of the most capable and luxurious full-size SUVs available. Seven-seat capacity, standard quattro all-wheel drive with a Torsen centre differential, and a broad engine range — from the 3.0 TDI to the extraordinary 6.0 V12 TDI — made it a flagship statement for the Audi brand.
The 4L first generation (2005–2015) is well-represented in the UK breaker network, with the 3.0 TDI being the dominant UK engine. The 4L 4.2 V8 FSI was popular with petrol buyers, while the V12 TDI remains an impressive — if expensive — outlier. The second-generation 4M (2015–present) uses MLB Evo, saving approximately 300 kg and adding the virtual cockpit, standard adaptive air suspension, and — in the SQ7 — a 4.0 V8 TDI producing 435 hp.
Air suspension components are the most-requested Q7 parts across our UK breaker network, followed by transfer cases, 3.0 TDI engines, and body panels. Suppliers regularly acquire accident-damaged Q7s to maintain stock for both generations. Free, no-obligation multi-supplier quotes are available on request.

Common Q7 Issues
Air suspension failure is the most common Q7 fault across both the 4L and 4M generations. The compressor works hard maintaining ride height on a vehicle exceeding 2.2 tonnes, and compressor failures are frequently accompanied by slow-leaking air struts. Both front and rear corners are affected. Breakers in our UK network stock compressors, individual corner struts, ride-height sensors, and control modules for both generations.
The 4L 3.0 TDI is generally robust but is prone to swirl flap actuator failure — the plastic spinot can shear, depositing debris in the inlet manifold. This is a well-known issue best addressed pre-emptively by removing and blanking the swirl flaps. The 4L diesel particulate filter (DPF) can block on vehicles used mainly for short trips. The 4M's ZF 8HP Tiptronic can develop mechatronic faults on high-mileage examples, causing delayed or erratic gear changes. Front lower control arms and tie rod ends wear faster than average given the Q7's kerb weight, and replacement in sets is recommended. All of these parts are held by UK breakers across our network.
