The Audi A3 engine range provides a very wide range of petrol and diesel powertrains. The gasoline range initially included 1.6, 1.6 FSI (direct injection), 2.0 FSI, 3.2 FSI (V6) engines. Since 2004, new engines have been installed on the car in a combination of direct injection and turbocharging (TFSI) technologies, starting with a 2-liter unit with 200 hp.

Later, less voluminous 1.8 TFSI (160 hp), 1.4 TFSI (125 hp) and the “youngest” 1.2 TFSI (105 hp), which are highly economical, were added. So, for example, fuel consumption in the combined cycle of a 1.2-liter engine in combination with mechanics is 5.5 l / 100 km, and with a “robot” – 5.3 l / 100 km.
